Confession – I’ve been hoarding a lovely little jar of saffron for ages, almost afraid to use her – her pretty threads just lying in wait. Until today! Today is the first time I’ve used saffron, ever, and like most amazing spices, I can see why men traveled for months to procure it, used it as currency, etc., and why it’s still so darned expensive!

If your celebrating continues into the weekend, have I got a dish for you. This is one of those dishes that has been around for ages, the origin is unknown, everyone has a different take on it, but, it, without a doubt, belongs on every picnic table.
The people have spoken! Well some of you have spoken, but you’re my people, and that’s all the counts. General consensus seems to be that we need more non-mayo recipes in our summertime arsenal… so I listened!
“I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.” That’s what I was starting to feel like every time I checked the site. Four years of the same, and beginning to look to me like an old study, I could practically smell the musty books.
So don’t be alarmed – this is still your beloved site, just wearing her Summer clothes, with a bit of light and air added. I’ve been planning and wanting to revamp the site for ages, and while this is not what I had in mind, until the real site can be revealed, I had to make a change.
Fresh dill is quickly climbing my list of “add to all food.” It’s threatening mayo, but not yet overtaking her, that’s probably impossible. I love that bright, earthy taste that dill adds to dishes, and is one of the reasons that this version of our beloved summer staple, potato salad, is one of my favs.

Depending on your team of choice, each year holds something different for you. For us sad Browns fans,
all most years we chalk up to “rebuilding.” For other teams, that Lombardi Trophy is so close, yet so far away. Others plain suck, but look forward to that nice draft pick. Others feel like sting of riding that middle .500. And others, believe it or not, just win!
