Ripping the flesh from the bone. Sucking that last bit of meat off. Licking the sticky sauce residue from your fingers.
As much as we love pairing wings with football, come Sunday, with numerous other dips, spreads, sweets, drinks, and treats to make – who has time to fry and prep those little guys?
Satisfy your crowd’s “foul” lust with these delicious skewers, and zesty accompanying dip. Bonus – almost no prep time, and minimal cook time.
With slightly over a week left until the Big Dance, you’ve undoubtedly been scouring Pinterest, food blogs, mags, and the like – in search of the perfect dips, wings, drinks, spreads, sandwiches, and other glutinous goodies.
In your search – let me point you in the direction of today’s dip – that unbelievably doesn’t contain cheese or bacon – but get this… real live veggies!
Resolution #35: Will try new things.
Why wait till after the First to get a jump on those pesky resolutions? Start now! Start with this.
Wings. Nachos. Fries. Meatballs. Dips.
Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired. Tired.
Don’t get me wrong… I love all of the aforementioned football treats. But they show up week after week on our Gameday tables.
And don’t we want more pigskin lovers? Don’t we deserve a break from the norm?
You’re darn right we do! And so I bring you, an unexpected treat, Indian inspired, and sure to delight the taste buds of your fellow cheering fans.
It’s a formidable scent.
It stings the nostrils… In a good way.
Smells usually associated with pleasant morning time manga – bacon, pancakes, muffins, etc.
No Super Bowl spread would be complete without a mass of cheese disguising itself as a dip, so here she is! This fondue-like mess is chalk full of yummy bits- jalapeños, chorizo, cilantro and tomatoes, just to name a few.
Apparently there’s some sort of sporting event taking place in a week; a sort of nationally televised gladiator type thing. Eh, who cares?!
Ha. Yeah right. It’s here!!! The moment we’ve been waiting for all year. I don’t have a pony in this race, but seeing as how I’m from Maryland and am surrounded by Ravens fans, I might have to throw my support their way. I’m still up in the air.
It happened you guys. Call it a gust of wind in my sails. A wind beneath my wings. A fire under my butt. The dawning of a new day.
Maybe it’s the killer Redskins game I went to on Monday. The hustle, bustle, and merriment of the holiday season. Or just more sleep. Whatever it is, like my boy Constanza says, “I’m back, baby!”
I’m super-mega pumped to bring you some great holiday ideas and recipes in the coming month, so let’s get started!
Pickles. The lovely Mrs. of The Oblongs. A favorite pre-game spot to grab a drink. One of my many nicknames. Curbs cravings. Goes insanely well in a dip!
We did it. We survived the first week of the 2012 football season. RG3 made a lot of people in my parts remember why they ever signed on for Skins fandom. Peyton made me remember why I love him so, even in that terrible orange jersey.
And stomachs all across this great land cried out for Tums, and a week of rest.
With that thought in mind… on to the dip!
