As those of you who link up with me on Facebook know, I’ve recently been contemplating the fate of this here blog. Recent weeks, chats, and further thought have brought me no closer to knowing if this is the end… or not. But this I do know, if I’m going out, if this is where our journey ends, it ends with two of my favorite things… Food & Football!
So join me as we spend the next two weeks in 14 football foodie recipes, designed to tickle the taste buds of your Super Bowl watching pals. And if football isn’t for you, if you have no intention of watching the big game, no worries, these recipes stand on their own, are delicious, and perfect for your entertaining needs.
Now, on to the eats.
So… you’re feelin’ fancy. You’ve got a bounce in your step. You’ve got a twinkle in your eye.
While the majority of us can barely reach for the queso, chips, and PBR, you’re ready to bust out the big guns… The celebratory feast.
Money is no object when your team is in first, so this one’s for you Broncos and Chiefs fans, and the insane AFC West!
Theme week, theme week, you know I love a good theme week.
Sadly, I was unable to give you the rhubarb week I had planned, but this week’s featured ingredient, is no Summer slouch! The beautiful, the colorful, the delicious, the Summer Superstar – Heirloom Tomatoes!
Clearly, our eyes begin the sensory path to consumption, and to me, there is nothing more appealing than presenting your fellow eaters with an array of color and freshness. Look at that plate, how could you not want to dive in? Doesn’t hurt that it’s also delicious.
The people have spoken! Well some of you have spoken, but you’re my people, and that’s all the counts. General consensus seems to be that we need more non-mayo recipes in our summertime arsenal… so I listened!
The sweaters are coming off, the birds are singing, the flowers are in bloom, the Earth smells of awakening, our pale winter bodies rejoice in some sun and processed Vitamin D… it’s spring time, baby!
It might not be bathing suit time yet, but it sure is “park yourself on the porch, and enjoy a tasty beverage time!” This weekend – you, some sun, and a pitcher of this tasty sangria.
Wagon wheels, cavatappi, spirals, campanelle – Ohhhh, shapes! These are things that run through my head in the pasta aisle. Other adults experience this phenomenon too… right???
You sit up. You’re sweating. Your heart’s pounding. You’re salivating. Were you dreaming about Ryan Gosling shirtless? Were you running from a herd of zombies? Nope, you were dreaming about the best pizza you ever ate!
Man, I should get my food related lusts analyzed – constant dreams of my favorite pizza in the world, Planks in Columbus, can’t be healthy. I had the
misfortune fortune of living a few houses down from this pizza wonder during undergrad, and no matter where I go, I’ve been looking for a pie that rivals this guy. Sweet sauce, tons of cornmeal, thin crust – perfection.
Coming across this recipe last summer and knew I had to tackle it because it fulfilled these two requirements, and then some.
