Rolo Pretzel Delights

We’re going to take this nice and slow.  Nobody gets hurt… not on my watch!

With the shopping, the decorating, the hustle, the bustle, the cooking, the baking, the go, go, go… it’s easy to go nuts, it’s easy to land yourself in the Emergency Room with a bagel cutting knife injury, or overdose on flour ingestion.  Not this year!

And so begins it.  Three ingredients.  Minimal prep.  Minimal cook time.  Ultimate delight.

If we’re gonna get through two weeks of cookies, we can’t be knee deep in recipes with 20 ingredients, piping, chilling, rolling, and making pretty.  So today, we’re keeping it simple.

Oceans 11.  Love Actually.  Let’s take a bunch of things, or in this reference, actors and actresses, that are decidedly not sucky on their own, put them all together, and create something mega not sucky.  (These are all technical terms of course.)  Well that’s what I thought of when I saw this recipe.

Pretzels.  Chocolate and caramel.  Pecans.  And how could this possibly not rock?!

Well it does.

Here’s the deal.  5 minutes prep.  5 minutes bake.  5 minutes cooling.  Bam.  Yummy treat, ready for the cookies table.

I will warn you.  The affect of these treats is mindnumbing… in that you will be shoveling them into your mouths with no clue what’s happening, but you will love it!

Rolo Chewy Caramels

Pecan halves


Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil.  Remove wrappers from chocolates.

Place one pretzel for each pretzel treat desired on prepared sheet.  Top each with one unwrapped Rolo.

Bake 3-5 minutes or until caramel piece begins to soften, but not melt.

Remove from oven; top with pecan half.  Cool completely and serve.
