Ingredients
2 tbl sesame seeds
1 tbl poppy seeds
1/2 c white sugar
1/2 c extra virgin olive oil
1/4 balsamic vinegar
1/4 t paprika
1/4 t Worcestershire sauce
1/4 red onion minced
2 6 oz bags of spinach, washed and dried
1 lb strawberries, washed, dried and sliced
1/4 c walnuts roughly chopped
1/3 c crumbled blue cheese
Directions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, EVOO, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onions. Cover and chill for at least one hour.
In a large bowl, add the walnuts to fairly dry spinach (this will help the nuts to be evenly distributed), and then add strawberries.
In a small saucepan, over medium/low heat, slowly warm the dressing. Dressing will be warm in fragrant in about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, add to spinach mixture and toss. Top with crumbled blue cheese.
Do not add the dressing to the salad unless you intend to eat it all in one sitting, as it will make the salad soggy and not as good the next day. Feel free to change the kind of crumbled cheese you use and add crumbled bacon if you’re feeling super daring!
Another great addition to this recipe is mandarin orange slices!
that would be fantastic… i’ll have to try. thanks for the tip!
